Shearing Services

Evan’s Custom Shearing.

My name is Evan Cason. I started working with alpacas at age 7 when a widowed neighbor asked for help around her alpaca ranch. I worked for her for a while, helping around the ranch (repairing fences, stacking hay, cleaning stalls, etc.). One year, she gave me the opportunity to learn how to shear alpacas as she had just purchased a shearing table and a pair of clippers. I was 12 years old when I shore my first animal and spent the next few years perfecting my craft. When I had become comfortable enough to shear on my own and switched to shearing on the ground I started Evan’s custom shearing at age 16. I’ve been shearing and expanding my business ever since. Now 10 years after starting Evan’s Custom Shearing I have learned so much about life, building strong and trustworthy business practices and maintaining relationships with my clients. I’ve learned how to work under pressure, how to organize a team and how to create relationships that will last a lifetime.

The best part of this job is meeting and working with different people from all walks of life from all over the country who share the same passion I do for these exquisite and exceptional creatures. I love shearing and working with the animals, and I feel so fortunate to be able to turn my passion into a business that I’m proud of.
